Model Ridika’s Death Boyfriend sent to jail

 
A Dhaka court has sent Hasibur Rahman, boyfriend of model and actor Lina Akter alias Ridika Ridhi, to jail in a case filed over her death in the capital’s Bhatara area.

Hasibur was produced before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam on Sunday. Investigation officer SI Abdul Wadud sought his detention in jail until the investigation is completed. The court granted the plea.

Prosecution SI Kamal Hossain said defence lawyers sought bail and informed the court that the bail hearing would be held on August 18.

According to the investigation officer, Hasibur allegedly subjected Ridika to mental abuse over mobile phone conversations and instigated her to take her own life. Police said he admitted his involvement during preliminary interrogation after being arrested from Bashundhara Residential Area on Saturday night.

Ridika’s’s body was recovered from a rented flat in Bashundhara early Saturday. Police said she was found unresponsive at the residence, where she lived and worked in the media industry.

Her mother, Moni Begum, filed the case with Bhatara Police Station accusing Hasibur of instigating her daughter’s death.

Ridika, who also worked as a model, had acted in several dramas, including Ekhane Manush Bikri Hoy, Bahurupi, Double Honeymoon and Sundori.
