BGB seizes large consignment of Indian drugs and smuggled goods in Daulatpur

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested one person and seized a large quantity of Indian drugs and smuggled goods in separate operations along the Daulatpur border in Kushtia.

Based on specific and reliable intelligence, separate patrol operations were conducted by troops of Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) in different areas under its jurisdiction to prevent the smuggling and entry of drugs through the border. The total estimated seizure value of the confiscated items is Tk 2,068,645.

In an operation at Bagapara in Jamalpur under the jurisdiction of Jamalpur Border Outpost (BOP), BGB personnel arrested Md Ripon, 35, son of late Mohammad Ali of Jamalpur, Mahishkundi, Daulatpur, with 20 Indian Tapentadol tablets. The estimated seizure value of the drugs is Tk 6,000.

In separate operations on August 17, BGB personnel from Bilgathua BOP recovered 15kg of Indian cannabis and 2,000 Cyproheptadine tablets from West Bilgathua. The estimated seizure value was Tk 652,500.

In another operation at Dharmadaha West Field under Dharmadaha BOP, the patrol team recovered five bottles of Indian liquor, 1,600 Dexamethasone tablets and 139 packets of Indian cigarettes. The estimated seizure value was Tk 495,145.

Meanwhile, troops from Rangmahal BOP recovered 10 bottles of Indian liquor and 3,000 Dexamethasone tablets from Rangmahal on August 17. The estimated seizure value of the recovered items was Tk 915,000.

BGB said Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) remains vigilant and committed to protecting the country's border and preventing smuggling and the entry of narcotics. Intelligence operations, surveillance and anti-smuggling drives are continuing in the border areas, it added.
