IFIC Bank PLC has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank under a Tk 10,000 crore refinance scheme aimed at boosting agricultural production, ensuring food security and generating employment.
The agreement was signed at Bangladesh Bank’s head office on Sunday, August 16, 2026. IFIC Bank Managing Director Syed Mansur Mustafa signed the agreement on behalf of the bank, while A K M Sayduzzaman, director of the central bank’s Agricultural Credit Department-2, signed on behalf of Bangladesh Bank.
The signing ceremony was attended by Rafia Sultana, additional director of the Agricultural Credit Department-2; Helal Ahmed, chief of Branch Business and head of Operations at IFIC Bank; Fariha Haider, head of SME at IFIC Bank; and other senior officials from both institutions.
Under the “Refinance Scheme for Agricultural and Rural Sector to Increase Agricultural Production and Employment Generation,” eligible farmers, entrepreneurs and customers involved in productive and income-generating activities in the agricultural and rural economy will have greater access to financing.
The initiative is expected to facilitate financing for agricultural production while supporting rural economic activities and employment generation.
IFIC Bank said, ‘‘its participation in the scheme would further expand its financing support for agricultural and rural communities through its nationwide network of branches and sub-branches.
The bank said the initiative would also strengthen its contribution to food security, financial inclusion and sustainable economic development.
