Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton has stressed the need for coordinated efforts between the private sector and the city corporation to transform Dhaka into a modern, clean, green and liveable city.

He made the remarks after a courtesy meeting with Bashundhara Group Chairman Sayem Sobhan Anvir at the DNCC office in Gulshan on Monday.

The meeting discussed urban development, public services and other issues of mutual interest, with both sides expressing optimism about working together.

"Bashundhara is a model residential area," Milton said.

"Coordination among all stakeholders is necessary for urban development. Therefore, we discussed various public interest issues and mutual matters with the Bashundhara chairman," he added.

Milton said Bashundhara had assured full support to DNCC for city development, while the city corporation would provide necessary assistance in the public interest.

Highlighting measures to control dengue, the DNCC administrator said the corporation was maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against Aedes mosquito larvae.

He said a dedicated task force was strictly monitoring all 10 DNCC zones, while regular mobile courts were conducting drives at government offices, institutions and residences. Fines and legal action were being taken wherever larvae were detected.

Urging greater public awareness, Milton said city workers could not enter private homes to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, making it essential for residents to keep their surroundings clean.

He said mosquito-control drives were being conducted according to pre-planned schedules and the situation remained under relative control. Special drives would be conducted at identified hotspots after the monsoon, he added.
