Unidentified woman’s body recovered from Karnaphuli River

Police recovered the body of an unidentified woman from the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram on Tuesday.

The body was recovered from the New Fishery Ghat area after it became stuck along the riverbank during high tide, police said.

According to Sadarghat Naval Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rab, the woman appeared to be middle-aged. Her identity could not be established immediately.

Police said her left leg was broken and there appeared to be an injury mark around her ankle.

The body was sent to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police will also collect fingerprints to identify the woman.

Authorities are investigating how the body ended up in the river and the circumstances surrounding her death.
