Truck-pickup crash kills two

Two people were killed in a crash between a truck and a pickup truck on the Bogura-Nagarbari road in Sirajganj district on Tuesday (18 August) morning.

The accident occurred in the Patdhari Bazar area when the truck crashed into a pickup truck heading towards Shahjadpur. Saddam Hossain, a passenger of the pickup, died on the spot, while its driver, Rezwan Hossain, died at Sirajganj Medical College Hospital while undergoing treatment for serious injuries.

Police said the bodies were handed over to the relatives and the truck was seized, but its driver fled the scene.

The locals later stopped traffic on the road to protest against the delayed arrival of the police, leading to a traffic jam. The local residents called off their blockade after an appeal by the Salanga police.
