Titas Gas authorities have again suspended gas supplies to households, factories and CNG filling stations in Narsingdi resulting in severe difficulties since Monday night (August 17).
The lack of cooking gas has also created hardship for households. Meanwhile, garment factories are experiencing a sharp decline in production. Gas-dependent businesses fear that if the situation continues, it could have long-term impacts on most sectors of the country. Many are also questioning the government’s role in resolving the crisis quickly.
However, Titas authorities said gas pressure in Narsingdi is almost non-existent. Whatever gas is available is being supplied entirely on a priority basis to the country’s largest Ghorashal-Palash Urea Fertiliser Factory.
They said the crisis cannot be resolved without a government decision and adequate gas pressure.
