Kaptai Press Club gets new body

KAPTAI, RANGAMATI, Aug 18: A new committee for the Kaptai Press Club has been formed for a period of one year after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Club in the presence of leaders of Rangamati and Rangunia Press Clubs at the Nisarga Pod House in Silchari of Kaptai on Monday afternoon. 

Kaptai Press Club President Md Kabir Hossain chaired the AGM while the Club General Secretary (GS) Jhulan Dutta and Bachik Shilpi Nur Mohammad Babu moderated the event. Daily Sangu Kaptai Correspondent Rabiul Hossain Chowdhury Ripon gave the welcome speech. 

Rangamati Press Club President Md Anwarul Al Haque spoke as the chief guest and its GS Muhammad Ilias delivered the keynote speech. The special guests were former president and current Senior Vice-President of Rangamati Press Club Sakhawat Hossain Rubel, President of Rangunia Press Club Md Ilias Hossain Talukder and former GS Masud Nasir. 

Later, a new nine-member committee was formed for the next one year. Kazi Mosharraf Hossain, Daily Ittefaq and Daily Azadi journalist and Executive Editor of Ruposhi Kaptai, has been nominated as the chief adviser of the committee. In addition, Md Kabir Hossain, Kaptai correspondent of Daily Amar Desh and Dainik Purbokone, has been nominated as the president, Alamgir Kabir (Janatar Sangbad) and Jhulan Dutta, Kaptai correspondent of Bangladesh Betar, Daily Ajker Patrika, Daily Parbatya Chattogram and Daily Giridarpan, as the vice-presidents, Nur Hossain Mamun (Daily Share Biz) as the finance secretary, while Rabiul Hossain Chowdhury Ripon (Daily Sangu), M Babul (Daily Alokito Pahar and Dhaka Protidin) and Joynal Abedin (Daily Ghoshana) have been nominated as the executive members.

Chief Guest Anwarul Al Haque said, “Journalists are the mirror of society; journalists will perform their duties with honesty, efficiency, talent and impartiality. If mainstream journalists are together, no yellow journalism will be able to do anything.”
