Former Bitghar UP chairman Abul Hossain reportedly arrested in Brahmanbaria

Former chairman of Bitghar Union Parishad in Nabinagar upazila and head of the Hossain Group in Tiara village, Abul Hossain, was reportedly arrested from the Brahmanbaria court area on Wednesday.

The arrest was reported on Wednesday (August 19, 2026), although the exact reason for his arrest and the case in which he was detained could not be immediately confirmed.

When contacted, the officer-in-charge of Nabinagar Police Station said he was unaware of Abul Hossain’s reported arrest. Attempts were later made several times to contact the officer-in-charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station, but he could not be reached.

As of Wednesday evening, police had not officially provided details regarding the reported arrest or any case against Abul Hossain. Further details are expected once authorities formally confirm the arrest and disclose the relevant case information.
