Patgram Police Station has arrested a madrasa night watchman on charges of raping a first-grade female student in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat.
Police arrested him during a raid on Wednesday (August 19) night.
According to the case files and local residents, on Wednesday afternoon, the victim's father from a village in Jongra Union-went to the Burimari Land Port to work breaking stones.
During this time, the child's mother went outside the house to cut grass for their cattle. Their young daughter went to play in the yard of the accused Selim's home, located next to theirs. Taking advantage of the absence of the child's parents at home.
Selim, the night watchman of the village madrasa, enticed her into his house under the pretext of showing her videos on his mobile phone. He then forcibly stripped off her clothes and raped her. Afterward, Mojib Uddin Selim fled through the back of his house.
Bleeding and crying, the young girl returned home and revealed the assault. Upon learning this, the mother informed the superintendent and an assistant teacher of the madrasa.
Later, the superintendent, the assistant teacher, the child's grandmother, and her mother took the injured child by auto-van to the Patgram Upazila Health Complex.
Dr. Nazmul Haq, an emergency department physician at the Patgram Upazila Health Complex, stated, "The child was a victim of sexual violence. As her condition was critical, she was referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment."admission.
Immediately after learning about the incident, the Patgram Police conducted a raid and arrested Mojib Uddin Selim from his sister's house in Borkhata Union of neighboring Hatibandha Upazila.
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patgram Police Station, Saiful Islam, said, "The child's maternal grandmother filed a complaint at Patgram Police Station regarding the rape. Showing him arrested under the Prevention of Oppression Against Women and Children Act, he was sent to the Lalmonirhat Court today, Thursday.
A three-day remand application will be submitted for his interrogation
