Dengue pressure rises in Chapainawabganj, 39 admitted in a day

Dengue cases are rising at Chapainawabganj District Hospital, with 39 patients admitted in the past 24 hours.

According to the latest hospital data released Friday (August 21), 52 dengue patients are currently receiving treatment. They include 25 men, 20 women and seven children.

Of the 39 newly admitted patients, 23 are men, 13 women and three children. Seventeen of them were identified through the hospital’s outpatient department.

Meanwhile, 36 patients recovered and were discharged in the past 24 hours. One female patient was referred to Rajshahi for better treatment. No dengue-related deaths were reported during the period.

Dr Md Mahbub Hasan, resident medical officer of the 250-bed Chapainawabganj District Hospital, said the number of dengue patients has increased due to rainfall.

He said the hospital’s dengue corner has been kept ready to handle the situation, while medicines, medical equipment and other necessary supplies have been stocked. Despite a shortage of doctors, the hospital authorities are making every effort to ensure proper treatment for patients.

Since January 1 this year, a total of 492 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospital. Another 316 patients have been identified with dengue through the outpatient department. No dengue-related death has been reported at the hospital this year.
