Speculation is mounting that Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, member of the BNP Standing Committee and Member of Parliament for Narsingdi-2, will be assigned the Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Ministry.
The move comes as part of a cabinet expansion and reshuffle, though no official announcement has been made yet.
Four new cabinet members are scheduled to take their oaths of office on Friday evening. Multiple sources confirmed that Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan is among the new inductees.
Reports also suggest potential changes and redistributions of portfolios in several key ministries.
Discussion over who will lead the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives recently surfaced across political and administrative circles. Alongside Dr Moyeen Khan, names of several other senior leaders were also considered.
Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan brings extensive experience in economics and administration to his long political career. In June this year, he urged local administration officials to rise above partisan politics and work for public welfare.
If assigned to the Local Government Ministry, he will oversee local government institutions, rural infrastructure development, urban management, and local body coordination.
