
Former BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has taken oath as the 23rd President of Bangladesh.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban at 7:37pm on Friday (August 21).
Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani administered the oath on behalf of the President. The President’s oath was administered first, followed by the oath-taking of ministers and state ministers.
Mirza Fakhrul was present at the ceremony along with senior political leaders and government officials. Among those present at the Darbar Hall to take oath as ministers were BNP Standing Committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Andalib Rahman Partha, Bandarban MP Saching Prue Jerry, Gaibandha-4 MP Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Lincoln, and Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir.
After taking the oath, President Mirza Fakhrul signed the oath book, which was subsequently authenticated by the Speaker.
The oath-taking marks Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s formal assumption of office as the country’s 23rd President.
