Man electrocuted, granddaughter hurt at Phulbari

PHULBARI, KURIGRAM, Aug 21: An elderly man named Mohammad Yunus Ali, 70, was electrocuted and his three-year-old granddaughter Sinha was injured in Madhya Kashipur Paschimpara Village of Kashipur Union in Phulbari Upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

Locals said that Yunus Ali, son of late Chhapruddin, was draining water from a canal behind his house with the help of an irrigation pump. 

At that time, he was electrocuted by a live electric wire and fell to the ground, and his granddaughter, who was nearby, injured. Later, Yunus Ali died on the way to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex.

Kashipur Union Parishad Chairman Md Moniruzzaman Manik confirmed the incident.
