Low-ying areas of Khagrachhari have been flooded following heavy rainfall caused by a cloudburst.

Rainfall overnight caused the water level of the Maini River in Dighinala to rise above the danger level. A total of 103 millimeters of rain was recorded in just three hours.

several low-ying areas of Merung, Kabakhali and Boalkhali unions in Dighinala, Khagrachhari, have been inundated. Water is flowing over the Dighinala Merung road. Aman rice fields have also been submerged. In many areas, rising water has entered homes, leaving local residents struggling due to the sudden heavy rainfall.

Dighinala Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanzil Ahmed said heavy rainfall last night caused flooding in several villages and agricultural lands in low-ying areas due to water flowing down from the Maini River. Authorities are currently preparing a list of those affected.

Meanwhile, the water level of the Chengi River has also risen, causing water levels to increase in low-ying areas of Khagrachhari Sadar and Mahalchhari.
