Newly-elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar.
The president entered the memorial premises at around 10:22AM and laid a wreath at the altar in honour of the martyrs. He then stood in silence for a while, paying deep respect to those who sacrificed their lives during the 1971 Liberation War.

A smartly turned-out contingent of the three armed forces presented him with a guard of honour during the visit.
Tight security measures have been taken in and around the memorial ahead of the newly elected president’s visit.
