Madrasa teacher drowns while taking bath in pond in Naogaon

A madrasa teacher drowned while taking a bath in a pond in Porsha upazila of Naogaon on Saturday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Raihan Kabir, 28.

The incident occurred around noon at the pond of Dayahar Sheikhpara Madrasa in Tetulia Union of the upazila.

Raihan, son of Rafiqul Islam of Damdipur village in Gomastapur upazila of Chapainawabganj, was working as a teacher at Dayahar Sheikhpara Qawmi Madrasa. According to locals, he went to the pond adjacent to the madrasa to take a bath. While swimming toward the middle of the pond, he suddenly went under the water. Other teachers and students of the madrasa noticed the incident and rushed to the spot, rescuing him from underwater. He was then taken to Porsha Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctor declared him dead.

Porsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ziaur Rahman confirmed the death.
