Madrasa teacher drowns at Porsha

NAOGAON, Aug 22: A madrasa teacher drowned at the Dayahar Sheikhpara Madrasa pond in Tetulia Union of Porsha Upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased Raihan Kabir, 28, was the son of Rafiqul Islam of Damadipur Village in Gomastapur Upazila of Chapainawabganj District and a teacher at Dayahar Sheikhpara Qawmi Madrasa.

Locals said that while bathing in the pond adjacent to the madrasa at noon, the teacher swam to the middle of the pond and suddenly sank. 

Seeing the matter, other teachers and students of the madrasa quickly rescued him and took to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Porsha Police Station Ziaur Rahman confirmed the death.
