Prez Fakhrul to move Bangabhaban, preparations underway

Newly elected 23rd President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir moves to Bangabhaban on Sunday (August 23), following final preparations at the presidential palace.

The President is scheduled to leave his official residence on Minto Road for Bangabhaban at 10:50 AM. 

A smartly turned-out contingent of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) will present him a guard of honor upon his arrival at Bangabhaban. Officials completed all reception arrangements to mark his first formal workday. 

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir took the oath of office as the country's 23rd President at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Friday (August 21) evening. Acting Speaker of the National Parliament Barrister Kaiser Kamal administered the oath. 

Political and administrative circles maintained keen interest in his move to Bangabhaban since the election. On Saturday, he paid tribute to the martyrs of the War of Liberation at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar. His entry into Bangabhaban today marks a new phase in his presidential tenure. 

Presidential Secretariat sources confirmed that protocols will guide his reception upon arrival. His regular official duties as head of state will begin today following the guard of honor. 

Security and protocol measures around the President's official residence and Bangabhaban were tightened from early morning. His motorcade will depart Minto Road for Bangabhaban on schedule to begin his official activities as President.
