Yaba seized, two held at Bauphal

BAUPHAL, PATUAKHALI, Aug 23: Police arrested two people, including a woman, and recovered 800 pieces of yaba tablets during a raid on Saturday in Bauphal Upazila of the district, police said.

The raid was conducted around 1 pm at a house near Golabari Bridge in Adarshpara area of Chandrapara Village, police said.

The arrestees are Tania Begum, 33, wife of alleged drug dealer Md Mainul Islam alias Sumon, and Md Sumon Mridha, 30.

Police said Mainul fled after sensing the presence of officers. A search of the house later led to the recovery of the tablets and the arrest of the two suspects.

Officer-in-Charge of Bauphal Police Station Md Sirajul Islam said a drive was underway to arrest Mainul.

He said legal action would be taken against the two arrested suspects under the Narcotics Control Act.
