Siddhartha and Mugdha Das moved to the downstairs room after killing retired school-teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, his wife, and their daughter on the rooftop in Rangpur.

Daylight had already broken by then. Young Ayush Chakraborty Priyam was awake and sitting on the bed. The attackers killed him as well because he recognized Siddhartha.

Siddhartha then picked up an old pair of pliers from the house. He went downstairs and cut the electric meter wires, suspecting CCTV cameras were installed in the house. A short circuit occurred during the act.

Siddhartha gave this account to investigation officers after police arrested him. He mentioned that Mugdha remained upstairs while he disconnected the power line.

Rangpur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (DB) Sanatan Chakraborty confirmed the matter. He said the accused disconnected the power supply after committing the murders. The main power line was cut off due to the short circuit.

He added that Siddhartha and Mugdha Das were detained based on specific information with local assistance. He noted that some people outside were attempting to spread confusion.

The suspects tried to hide small details from the police, but they gave full confessing statements in court. The police official assured there is no scope for confusion.

Police are conducting the investigation on the right track. A charge sheet will be submitted in the shortest possible time, Deputy Commissioner Sanatan Chakraborty added.
