Foreign liquor, saree and hemp seized by BCG in Ctg

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has recovered a large quantity of foreign liquor, Indian sarees and hemp in separate operations in the Patenga police station area of Chittagong city.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan provided this information on Tuesday (August 25) afternoon.

He said that a special operation was conducted in the Patenga Bahinongar Beach area of Chittagong based on confidential information. During the operation, 118 bottles of foreign liquor and 477 cans of beer illegally unloaded from a commercial ship were seized during a search in the area.

On the other hand, another special operation was conducted in the Charpara Ghat area under Patenga police station of Chittagong based on confidential information. There, 93 pieces of Indian sarees and 14 kg of hemp, brought by evading customs, were seized.

At the time, it was not possible to arrest anyone, as the drug dealers fled after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard in two separate operations.

As of writing, legal action against the seized foreign liquor and beer is under process and the seized sarees and hamp have been handed over to Patenga Model Police Station.

It is estimated that the market value of the seized goods is Tk 62 lakh 20 thousand.

Sabbir Alam Sujan later adds that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent the spread and smuggling of dangerous drugs.
