Two found dead at Kaliganj, Singra

Two persons were found dead in separate incidents in Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur District and Singra Upazila of Natore District in two days.

KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR: A security guard was found hanging from a mango tree on the premises at an under-construction factory in the Ulukhola Baraitala area of Kaliganj Upazila of the district early Tuesday.

The deceased Md Abdul Hannan, 55, was the son of late Salimuddin Akand of Baliamari Mandal area in Rajibpur Upazila of Kurigram District.

Hannan had been on duty at about 4:30 am, and his supervisor saw him in normal condition at that time, relatives said.

His nephew, Abdul Aziz, said he found Hannan hanging from a tree branch with a noose reportedly made from his boot laces. A pair of boots was found about 10 feet from the tree.

Kaliganj Police Station (PS) SI (Investigation) Md Ashraful Islam said the police recovered the body and sent it to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of death, he said.

SINGRA, NATORE: Police recovered the body of a missing auto-rickshaw driver with his hands, feet and face tied in Panagari on the Bhoga-Basantpur road in Singra Upazila of the district on Monday afternoon.

Deceased Anwar Hossain, 34, had gone missing on Sunday evening after visiting Singra Bazar to pay rent for his auto-rickshaw, relatives said. His family searched for him after his mobile phone was found to be switched off and filed a GD with Singra Police Station (PS) on Monday. Later, locals found the body at 5:30 pm on Monday.

Officer-in-Charge of Singra PS Rafiqul Islam said they initially suspect Hossain was killed in an attempt to steal his auto-rickshaw.
