The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi is being observed across the country today with due religious solemnity, commemorating the birth and demise of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
The Prophet (PBUH), the messenger of humanity’s liberation, was born on Rabiul Awal 12 in 570 AD. The occasion provides an opportunity to reflect on his life, teachings and enduring message of compassion, brotherhood and human dignity.
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman have issued separate messages marking the occasion. They urged people to follow the life philosophy of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and work for brotherhood, harmony and human welfare.
The government, political parties and various organisations have taken programmes to observe the day, including discussions, Milad and Doa Mahfils.
The Islamic Foundation has organised daily Waz Mahfils at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque from Maghrib until 11pm, alongside seminars, Qirat Mahfils, Hamd-Naat competitions, poetry recitation and competitions for school, college and madrasa students.
Educational and cultural institutions have also been asked to arrange discussions, prayer gatherings, quizzes and cultural programmes focusing on the Prophet's life and teachings, peace, tolerance, human rights and the dignity of women in Islam.
Improved meals will also be served at hospitals, prisons, government children's homes, old-age homes and drug addiction treatment centres nationwide.
