2 cops attacked at funeral

Two police officers were attacked at around 8 PM on Tuesday, August 25, while preparing inquest reports for two children who drowned in Gurudaspur, Natore.

The funeral ceremony of the children was taking place at Eidgah ground near Wapda Bazar in Nazirpur Union.

SI Abul Basar, aged 45, and constable Rakib Hossain, 36, have been reported to come under attack because the local residents had accused them of having removed the shrouds from the body while making the inquest report.

The two took shelter in a nearby shop till rescue by other policemen.

As per the statement of Natore SP Shariful Islam, the two policemen have been suspended temporarily and attached to Natore Police Lines in connection with irregularities in the investigation.

It may be mentioned that the two children, namely Farhan Islam and Lam Islam, died of drowning in Nandakunja river while playing near the riverbank. Neither of them could swim.
