Jashne Julus held in Dhaka on Eid-e-Miladunnabi

A grand Jashne Julus was held in Dhaka on Wednesday to mark Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) and 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, drawing hundreds of thousands of devotees from across the country.

The procession began at around 11am from the South Gate of Suhrawardy Udyan under the leadership of Shah Sufi Dr Syed Saifuddin Ahmad Al-Hasani, president of Anjuman-e-Rahmania Mainia Maizbhandaria.

Before the procession began, devotees from different parts of the country gathered at Suhrawardy Udyan. Many participants wore white clothes and caps and carried Kalema-inscribed flags, placards, colourful festoons and national flags.

The procession passed through Doel Chattar, Shikkha Bhaban and the Secretariat Road before returning to Suhrawardy Udyan. The area echoed with chants including “Ya Nabi Salam Alaika” and “Ya Rasul Salam Alaika.”

An International Peace Grand Gathering was held at Suhrawardy Udyan following the procession.

In his address, Dr Saifuddin Ahmad Maizbhandari said Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a mercy from Allah for all humanity. He said justice, humanity and peace could be established in society by following the Prophet’s teachings and ideals.

He stressed the importance of applying the Prophet’s teachings in individual and social life amid ongoing wars, conflicts and instability around the world.

He said Eid-e-Miladunnabi should not be limited to ceremonial observance and called for the Prophet’s ideals of justice, compassion, harmony and mutual respect to be reflected in family and social life.

The gathering was attended by Shahzada Syed Mehbub Mainuddin Al Hasani and Shahzada Sayed Mashooq Mainuddin, president of the Mainia Youth Forum and convener of the International Academy of Sufi Scholars, among others.

Foreign speakers included Islamic scholars from Türkiye, Morocco, Canada, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Australia, Egypt, Lebanon, Brazil, Pakistan and India.

Among those present were Global University Vice Chancellor Professor Emeritus Dr Anisuzzaman, former University of Dhaka vice chancellor Akhteruzzaman, general secretary of Anjuman-e-Rahmania Mainia Maizbhandaria Khalifa Alamgir Khan, Maulana Mufti Baki Billah Azhari and Maulana Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan.

Speakers said the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) offered guidance for establishing peace, harmony and human welfare. They called for the elimination of hatred, discrimination and intolerance from society and stressed the importance of humanity and mutual respect.

Women also took part in the gathering in significant numbers.

The event concluded with a special munajat seeking the welfare of the country and its people, as well as peace and harmony. The prayer was led by Shah Sufi Dr Shahzada Syed Saifuddin Ahmad Maizbhandari, incumbent imam of Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif.
