Police confirmed on Thursday (August 27) that a skeleton recovered from a sugarcane field in Jitapur Mor, Joypurhat Sadar, was that of missing e-rickshaw driver Farid Hossain.
Farid disappeared on August 20 after leaving home with his e-rickshaw. His e-rickshaw was recovered from a garage, and two people were arrested in connection with the case. The victim’s father filed a murder case, accusing Sagar Hossain, 27, as the principal accused.
The principal accused Sagar was arrested from Atrai Railway Station area of Naogaon in a joint operation conducted by Rab and police.
The victim’s relatives were able to identify the skeleton through the clothes that were found along with it. DNA test samples were taken from it before it was handed over to the family, who buried it on Tuesday night.
Police said the body was likely burnt with an inflammable material, and further interrogation with the principal accused might explain why the body turned into a skeleton in just five days.
