Fifteen unemployed youths in Joypurhat have received 15 van carts as part of an initiative to create employment opportunities and reduce unemployment in the district.
The distribution ceremony was held on Thursday afternoon (August 27) on the premises of the Joypurhat District Council office. The initiative was organised by the district council.
District Council Chief Executive Officer Sarker Mohammad Raihan chaired the programme, while District Council Administrator and senior joint convener of Joypurhat district BNP Masud Rana Pradhan attended as the chief guest and handed over the van carts to the beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, Masud Rana Pradhan said the district council has undertaken various initiatives to make people self-reliant by reducing unemployment and creating self-employment opportunities. He said the van carts would help the unemployed youths become economically self-sufficient and improve the financial condition of their families.
Assistant Engineer of Joypurhat District Council Mushfiqur Rahman, Member Secretary of the district Krishak Dal Monzure Mawla Palash, and Director of the Joypurhat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdul Alim were present as special guests.
District council officials and employees, as well as local dignitaries, were also present at the programme.
