Film star Jackie Chan is known for his martial arts and daring stunts, but a luxury watch on his wrist has recently drawn attention. The Richard Mille RM UP-01 Ferrari, worn by the actor, is priced at around $1 million, or approximately Tk 95.7 million.

One of the watch’s most striking features is its extremely slim design. At just 1.75mm thick, it is roughly as thin as a coin. Fitting a complex mechanical movement and all the necessary components into such a small space required highly precise engineering.

The RM UP-01 Ferrari was developed by Swiss luxury watchmaker Richard Mille in partnership with Ferrari. The watch features Ferrari’s prancing horse logo and a design inspired by motorsport. Its bezel combines satin and polished finishes, giving it a sporty yet premium appearance.

The case is made from Grade 5 titanium, a material known for being both lightweight and strong. The watch also uses components made from 316L stainless steel to improve durability despite its ultra-thin construction.

Most of the watch’s key components were developed by Richard Mille’s own movement division. The parts were machined with precision of up to one micron, allowing the manufacturer to fit the intricate mechanism within the extremely limited space.

Despite its high price, the watch is not designed for deep-water use. It has a water resistance rating of 1 ATM, meaning it can withstand pressure equivalent to around 10 metres of water under standard conditions.

The RM UP-01 Ferrari is also highly exclusive, with only 150 units produced worldwide. Its limited production, Ferrari partnership, use of specialised materials and complex engineering all contribute to its million-dollar price tag.

Rather than being simply a device for telling time, Jackie Chan’s watch represents a combination of luxury, motorsport-inspired design and advanced mechanical engineering packed into an exceptionally thin frame.
