BNP gradually moving toward failure: Sarjis

Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the National Citizens Party’s (NCP) northern region, has said that the BNP is gradually going off track and heading toward failure.

“When we criticize the BNP, our friends in the BNP think that we are opposing them. Because of such attitudes, the BNP is gradually going off track and moving toward failure. This is becoming harmful both for the country and for them. We want the government to take swift and effective measures to ensure justice for all cases of murder and rape across the country,” he said.

He made the remarks on Friday afternoon while responding to questions from journalists before attending an NCP organizational meeting and political workshop as the chief guest at the Chandpur Press Club.

Sarjis Alam said, “As citizens, we cannot accept the recent killing of four people in Rangpur in any way. It has caused deep pain among the people of the country, particularly in the hearts and minds of students. We see no visible efforts to arrest those responsible or the alleged killers.”

Criticizing Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, the NCP leader said, “Even when the Home Minister is questioned about this matter in Parliament, he cannot provide an answer. Instead, he shifts to other issues and different topics. At times, even those asking questions are belittled. When he cannot answer, he brings up Shahbagh or Paltan.”

“There are videos and photographs showing who killed Osman Hadi. The accused has even been arrested in India. But in Parliament, all we hear is that they are bringing him back, that the process is underway, and so on. In reality, there is no substance to these claims. The government has taken no visible initiative. If we cannot ensure justice for these killings, it will not be possible to restore law and order to a normal state. The situation will continue to deteriorate day by day.”he added.

The event was chaired by NCP Chandpur district convener Md. Mahbub Alam and moderated by its member secretary Amanullah Patwari. Among the special guests were the party’s joint convener and member of the Political Council Ali Ahsan Junayed, Sarwar Tushar, joint member secretary Saleh Uddin, Cumilla divisional organizing secretary Ataullah, organizing secretary Rifat Rashid, and others.
