Cricketers return home, treated to sweets at airport

Bangladesh national team cricketers have begun returning home after completing their tour of Australia. Following the two-match Test series, which ended in a 1-1 draw, some members of the team arrived in Dhaka on Friday night.

Bangladesh had traveled to Australia to play Test cricket there for the first time in 23 years. In the first Test in Darwin, Najmul Hossain Shanto’s side made history by defeating the hosts by nine wickets. It was Bangladesh’s first-ever Test victory on Australian soil.

However, in the second and final Test of the series, Bangladesh were bowled out for just 64 runs in their first innings and suffered a heavy defeat by an innings and 51 runs. The match ended in just two days. As a result, the two teams shared the series 1-1.

Bangladesh’s cricketers were initially scheduled to return home immediately after the second Test. However, flight complications made that impossible. Since the team’s return tickets had already been booked for August 27, the players had to remain in Australia for several days even after the series had ended.

During this additional time, some players rested at their hotel, while others visited various tourist attractions across Australia. A few cricketers who had traveled with family members went to Sydney and spent time with their families. They are expected to return home a few days later.
