Police recovered the body of a battery-powered rickshaw driver in Rangpur's Gangachara, suspecting that he was killed by robbers who stole his vehicle.
The deceased was identified as Mokhlesur Rahman, 55, son of the late Hamidur Rahman of Nabonidas Para in Gangachara upazila.
His body was recovered from the Shantipara Kauyafanda area of Gajghanta union at around 11:45 PM on Friday.
Gangachara Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdus Sabur said police believe a group of criminals killed Mokhlesur by slitting his throat and took away his rickshaw.
Mokhlesur had left his home with the rickshaw on Friday afternoon. Police suspect he was killed between 8 PM and 10 PM.
Local residents spotted the body under a banyan tree and informed police.
The body was sent to Rangpur Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the motive and identify those involved, the OC said.
