
HABIGANJ, Aug 29: Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain made a surprise visit to the 250-bed Habiganj District Sadar Hospital on Saturday and ordered the transfer of a pharmacist for allegedly being absent from duty.
The minister arrived at the hospital around noon without informing officials and employees beforehand.
During the visit, he inspected the surgery department, outpatient department and several other units. He also spoke to patients undergoing treatment and their relatives, who raised complaints about healthcare services and various problems at the hospital.
The minister ordered immediate action against pharmacist Regan Hossain after he was reportedly found absent from duty during the inspection. He was subsequently ordered to be transferred, according to hospital sources.
After inspecting the overall situation at the hospital, Sakhawat Hossain expressed dissatisfaction. He also said necessary steps would be taken to improve the quality of healthcare services in Habiganj.
The minister visited different wards and service areas and enquired about treatment facilities, medicine supplies and the quality of services from the concerned officials.
Hospital officials and employees concerned were present during the visit.
