A case has been filed against Milton Samadder, founder of Child and Old Age Care, at Savar Model Police Station on allegations of assault.
The case was filed by Nahid Hasan, a content creator known on Facebook as a content creator for ‘Ujan TV’.
Nahid Hasan filed the case as the plaintiff on Saturday (August 29). Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Alam confirmed the matter.
Speaking about the case, Nahid Hasan said, “We only want justice for the wrong that was done to us. Milton Samadder attacked us suddenly and with the intention of killing us. We expect him to receive proper justice through the law.”
repeated attempts were made to contact Milton Samadder by phone for his comment, but he did not respond. No response was received to messages sent to him on WhatsApp either.
Earlier, on August 27, Nahid Hasan filed a complaint at Savar Model Police Station. Police said the case was filed based on that complaint.
In his complaint, Nahid said, "he is a content creator and volunteer involved in various social and humanitarian activities. He learned through advertisements published in various media outlets and word of mouth that Child and Old Age Care, run by Milton Samadder in Kamalapur area of Birulia Union in Savar, provides shelter to unidentified children and elderly people and free medical treatment to sick individuals."
According to Nahid, at around 2:30 AM on August 23, he found an approximately 65-year-old sick and unidentified elderly woman lying on a road near Dashkura in the Bakultala area of Sharankhola Police Station in Bagerhat. Unable to find her identity or relatives, he rescued her and took her to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex. After she received initial treatment there, he contacted Milton Samadder by phone and requested that he provide shelter for the woman at his organisation.
Nahid alleged that Milton Samadder initially refused to take the woman in. However, after repeated requests, he allegedly demanded Tk 18,000 per month in exchange for providing her shelter and care. The matter was later published on social media.
According to Nahid's complaint, following Milton Samadder's instructions, they took the elderly woman from Sharankhola to Child and Old Age Care by ambulance and arrived at around 2:30 AM on August 25. After arriving there, Milton Samadder, the organisation's manager Debashish, 26, and five to seven unidentified people allegedly assaulted them over the publication of information on social media.
Nahid alleged that at one point Milton Samadder grabbed him by the throat and attempted to suffocate him. When Md Ilias Hossain, who was accompanying him, came forward to protect him, Ilias was also beaten. The complaint said Ilias suffered bruises and swelling on different parts of his body.
The complaint further stated that later, with the assistance of several unidentified people, a video containing exonerating and biased statements was forcibly recorded from Nahid after intimidating him.
Nahid claimed that after the earlier post was widely circulated in various media outlets and on social media, Milton Samadder kept the elderly woman at his organisation to avoid responsibility and drove Nahid and Ilias away after threatening to kill them.
The complaint said Nahid and Ilias later received treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital with the help of local residents.
Earlier, in a Facebook post on August 26, Nahid Hasan had alleged that after they took an elderly woman to Child and Old Age Care for shelter, the power connection was cut off and they were assaulted. He also alleged that a video was forcibly recorded in which the woman stated that no money had been demanded from her.
Savar Model Police Station (OC) Saiful Alam said, "the case had been registered and that necessary legal action would be taken."
