10 severly injured as bus overturns on padma bridge

A passenger bus overturned on the approach road to the Mawa end of Padma Bridge after the driver lost control allegedly due to reckless speeding. At least 10 passengers, including women and children, sustained serious injuries in the accident.

The accident occurred around noon on Monday (August 31) at the Mawa end of Padma Bridge in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj. After receiving the information, members of the Fire Service quickly reached the scene, rescued the injured and sent them to a hospital.

According to Fire Service sources, the Magura-to-Dhaka-bound New Green Line Express bus reached the approach road to Padma Bridge at around 1:37 PM when the driver lost control due to excessive speed. The bus then crashed heavily into a roadside railing and overturned.

Several passengers became trapped inside the bus following the accident. Upon receiving the news, two rescue teams from the Shreenagar Fire Station quickly reached the scene and launched a rescue operation. The injured were later taken to Shreenagar Upazila Health Complex by Fire Service ambulance.

Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, deputy assistant director of the Fire Service said, "two rescue teams from the Shreenagar Fire Station went to the scene after receiving the information, rescued the injured passengers and transported them to Shreenagar Upazila Health Complex by Fire Service ambulance."

He further said that although several of the injured were in critical condition, the condition of the others was not alarming.
