TANGAIL, Aug 31: A 55-year-old van driver was allegedly killed by his son Sunday after the son became angry over a delay in giving him money, police said.
Abdur Rahim Bhuiyan was eating at home in Konabari Village when his 20-year-old son, Mostofa Bhuiyan, demanded money. When his father delayed, Mostofa allegedly struck him on the head with a stone grinder. Abdur Rahim died at the scene around 11:30 am, police said.
Local residents said Mostofa was addicted to drugs and had recently married. They alleged he had abused his wife, who recently returned to her parents’ home.
Abdur Rahim’s wife and daughter said Mostofa had mental health problems and sometimes behaved erratically.
Officer-in-Charge of Nagarpur Police Station Zahurul Islam said Mostofa fled and police were trying to arrest him. The body was sent to a morgue, and a case was filed.
