Train services between Rajshahi and the rest of the country resumed on Tuesday morning after a disruption of around two and a half hours.
The communication resumed at around 9:30AM, confirmed Farid Hossain, general manager of Western Railway.
Several trains waiting at Rajshahi Railway Station, including services bound for Dhaka, departed for their destinations after delays of nearly three hours, causing considerable inconvenience to passengers.
Train movement was suspended around 7AM after a section of the rail line broke near Arani Railway Station in Rajshahi.
The disruption left six trains stranded at Rajshahi and other stations, including three intercity services at Rajshahi Railway Station.
According to Farid Hossain, the stranded trains included the Dhaka-bound Banalata Express and Silk City Express, as well as the Khulna-bound Mahananda Express.
He said services resumed after railway workers repaired the damaged track, and the stranded trains subsequently left for their destinations with delays.
