BAJUS cuts gold rate by Tk 4,374 per bhori

The Bangladesh Jewellwers Association (BAJUS) has reduced the prices of gold ornaments in Bangladesh yet again. The price of 22 carat gold which is the best quality of gold being sold in the market has been decreased by Tk 4,374 per bhori (11.664 grams). The VAT inclusive new rate has been fixed at Tk 231,880 per bhori.

According to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), this decrease in the price of gold was because of the fall in the price of Tejabi gold in the domestic market. These new rates have come into effect at 10 AM on Wednesday (September 2).

The new rates were decided at a meeting of BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring. After that, the chairman of the committee, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, issued a notification of these new rates.

As per the new rates, 21-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 4,199 per bhori to Tk 221,441 per bhori, 18-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 3,616 to Tk 190,123, and that of traditional method gold has been reduced by Tk 2,974 to Tk 155,306 per bhori.

Previously, the price of 22 carat gold had dropped by Tk 7,115 per bhori on 29 August, and again by Tk 4,374 per bhori on 31 August. The current reduction in the price makes the total reduction in 22 carat gold to be Tk 15,863 in three phases.

The prices of silver jewelries have also been reduced. The price of 22 carat silver has been reduced by Tk 117 to Tk 5,016 per bhori, and that of 21 carat silver has dropped by Tk 175 to Tk 4,782. The price of 18 carat silver has dropped by Tk 193 to Tk 4,082, and that of traditional method silver has dropped by Tk 117 to Tk 3,091 per bhori.
