Japanese firm submits proposal to operate and maintain Dhaka Airport’s third terminal

A Japanese consortium, Sub Working Group, has submitted a proposal to operate and maintain the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The proposal was submitted at 2pm on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB).

Masahiru Hirai, representing the Japanese firm, handed over the proposal to CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq, BSP, GUP, NDC, AFWC, ACSC, PSC. Other CAAB officials and members of the Japanese delegation were also present.

The Japanese firm submitted separate documents containing its technical and financial proposals.

The submitted proposals will be evaluated by an RFP Evaluation Committee formed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. The committee includes representatives from CAAB, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Authority and the Roads and Highways Department.

As part of the evaluation process, the technical proposal will be assessed first, followed by the financial proposal. After the evaluation, necessary discussions and negotiations will be conducted.

Once the negotiation process is successfully completed, the contract signing date will be finalized following the prescribed procedures.

The third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is one of the country’s largest and most important aviation infrastructure projects. The project is expected to play a significant role in strengthening Bangladesh’s aviation sector and bringing it closer to international standards through modern technology, world-class passenger services and efficient operational management.
