Verdict against Quader, 6 others next week

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) is set to deliver its verdict next week against seven leaders of the Awami League, including its general secretary Obaidul Quader, in crimes against humanity case, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Aminul Islam said on Thursday.

He disclosed this while responding to journalists' query at a press briefing at his office.

“The verdict may be delivered any day next week,” the chief prosecutor said, adding that, arguments from both the prosecution and defence had already been completed.

Earlier, on August 17, the three-member Tribunal-2, headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, concluded the arguments and kept the case awaiting judgment.

The other accused are Awami League joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, former state minister for information and broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat, Jubo League president Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, its general secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, Bangladesh Chhatra League president Saddam Hossain and its general secretary Wali Asif Enan.
