Former expelled BNP leader sued in Munshiganj for fraud and forgery

A lawsuit has been filed against an expelled former politician in Munshiganj for allegedly concealing information, identifying himself as a BNP leader, and illegally using the party's official letterhead to request permission for an anniversary event.

The accused has been identified as Mahbub Ul Alam Swapan, son of Abdul Baten, residing at Moon Tower in the Bagmamudali Para area of Munshiganj town.

Mokhlesur Rahman Bokul, joint convener of the Munshiganj Municipal BNP, filed the case at the local police station on Thursday afternoon (Case No. 19, under Section 419 of the Penal Code).

According to the case statement:

The Incident: On August 30, Swapan submitted an official application to the Deputy Commissioner’s office during business hours, requesting permission to host a rally, discussion, and cultural event for BNP's founding anniversary. He used the official party letterhead and falsely designated himself as the Member Secretary of the City BNP.

Prior Expulsion: On February 16, Swapan and several others were expelled from all party positions, including primary membership, via an official press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi for anti-disciplinary activities.

Allegations: The plaintiff noted that Swapan had previously resigned from the party voluntarily during the 13th National Parliamentary Election to support an opposing candidate ("Football" symbol), a move he actively publicized on social media. By concealing his expulsion, forging party pads, and using false designations, Swapan created confusion among government authorities and the public, directly harming the party’s image and threatening local law and order.

It was also reported that Swapan has recently been using the title of "former member secretary" on various public banners and festoons.

Confirming the matter, Md. Tashlim Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Munshiganj Sadar Police Station, stated that legal action will be taken against the accused following a thorough investigation into the allegations.
