Son’s knife attack leaves father dead, mother and brother Injured in Narsingdi

A man was died after being stabbed by his son in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi. The suspect's mother and brother were also injured during the incident.

Police reported that the incident occurred early Friday morning at their residence in Bharatkandi East Para village of the upazila.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Based Miah ,65, Following the incident, his son, Shakil Chowdhury ,35, fled the scene. Shakil is a construction worker by profession.

According to family members, Abdul Based and Shakil were sleeping in the same room on Thursday night. Early in the morning, hearing screams, family members from an adjacent room rushed in and found Shakil stabbing his father.

When they attempted to intervene, Shakil hacked and injured his mother, Sakhina Begum, and brother, Nurunnabi Rashed, before escaping from the site. The severely injured Abdul Based died on the spot.

Family members stated that there were no prior family disputes between Abdul Based and his son.

On information, Shibpur Model Thana Police recovered the body and sent it to the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The injured Sakhina Begum and Nurunnabi Rashed are currently receiving treatment at Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.

Shibpur Model Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Kohinoor Miah stated that legal proceedings are underway. Police are attempting to arrest the accused while investigating the motive behind the murder.
