Four drug trafficker arrested in Dinajpur

Four man were arrested in Dinajpur while they carrying 220 tapentadol tablets, illicit drug pretend as a day labour travelling to Narayanganj.

Police recovered the tapentadol tablets after searching a Shyamoli Paribahan night coach on the Gobindaganj-Dinajpur regional highway near TNT Mor in Ghhoraghat Municipality at around 11:00 PM on Thursday (September 3).

The arrested men were identified as Lalon Mia, 25, Kafirul Islam, 23, Sohag Babu, 20, and Hasan Ali, 22, all from the Office Para area of Harinathpur village in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur.

According to police, acting on a tip-off, officers learned that several people were allegedly transporting drugs on a Shyamoli Paribahan night coach. Police subsequently took position at TNT Mor and searched the suspected coach.

During the search, officers found 220 tapentadol tablets inside the bags of clothes carried by the four men. They were detained and questioned, after which they reportedly admitted that the bags belonged to them. Police said they also confessed during preliminary interrogation that they were taking the tablets to Narayanganj for sale.

Ghhoraghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam said four people had been arrested with the drugs. A case has been filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act.

Police said the four arrested men were sent to jail through the court on Friday (September 4).
