Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Kabi Jasimuddin Hall Union (KJHU) have jointly launched an IT and Career Centre for students of Dhaka University(DU)'s Kabi Jasimuddin Hall.
Kabi Jasimuddin Hall Provost Prof Dr SM Arif Mahmud and DUCSU General Secretary (GS) SM Farhad inaugurated the centre on Friday afternoon. DUCSU Career Development Secretary Md Mazharul Islam coordinated the initiative.
Other DUCSU secretaries and KJHU Vice-President (VP) Md Osman Goni, Assistant General Secretary (AGS) Hesbullah Al Hezul, Social Service Secretary Abdullah Al Maruf, Reading Room Secretary Md Kamrul Hasan and two members, Abdullah Al Mahmud and Md Roqun Uddin, were present at the inauguration.
Speaking at the programme, speakers emphasised the need for a computer lab to help students keep pace with the demands of the modern world and strengthen their academic and technological skills.
The centre began its operations with six computers provided by DUCSU.
KJHU Provost Prof Dr SM Arif Mahmud announced that the number of computers would gradually be increased by the hall administration.
Students expressed hope that the IT and Career Centre would facilitate their academic activities and provide better access to technology and career-related resources.
