Shibir-Chhatra Dal clash at Islamic University leaves two injured

A clash broke out between activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at Islamic University in Kushtia on Saturday, leaving at least two people injured.

The incident began after Chhatra Dal activist Alinur Rahman allegedly slapped Kazi Zubayer, secretary of the Shibir unit at Shahid Ziaur Rahman Hall, in a corridor of the hall in the afternoon. Both are students of the university.

The incident later triggered tension across the campus, with supporters of the two organisations becoming involved in a confrontation near the university's main gate. The situation prompted the deployment of additional law-enforcement personnel on campus.

Islamic University Proctor Prof Dr Shaheenuzzaman said they rushed to the spot after learning about the incident and tried to calm both sides. The situation was later brought under control with the assistance of police.
