Chattogram Festival 2026 officially announced in London

The official announcement of ‘Chattogram Festival 2026’ was made in London, United Kingdom, amid a festive atmosphere.

The festival’s official activities began on September 4 at the office of iON Television in London, with prominent members of the Chattogram community and leaders of various Chattogram-based organisations in attendance.

The programme began with a cake-cutting ceremony. During the event, community leaders and distinguished guests discussed in detail the plans, preparations and overall arrangements for successfully organising ‘Chattogram Festival 2026’.

The speakers stressed the importance of organising a well-coordinated, inclusive and vibrant festival with the participation of people from all sections of the Chattogram community, regardless of political affiliation, religion, ethnicity, social class or profession.

Those present shared their views and suggestions on how to make the festival successful and meaningful. They also expressed their commitment to working together as a strong and united team.

Under the leadership of the Chattogram Festival Committee, plans have been made to ensure the festival’s success through collective participation and cooperation. The organisers said a comprehensive roadmap and initial plan for the festival would be presented within the next couple of days. The programmes and activities will then be finalised based on feedback and suggestions from all concerned.

According to the organisers, the festival will initially focus on showcasing Chattogram’s rich culture, music, traditions, heritage, history and glorious legacy. Various relevant programmes and activities will also be included to highlight the region’s distinctive identity, heritage and diverse cultural traditions.

Those present at the event included community personalities Jagir Alam, councillor Syed Firoz Ghani, Shawkat Mahmud Dipu, Akhtarul Alam, Sujon Barua, Masudur Rahman, Sarwar Chowdhury, Monir Mahmud, Mohammad Ali Reza, Dr Bishwajit Roy, Mira Barua, Tanvir Khan, Asma Alam, Jaglul Chowdhury, Shawkat Osman, Raihan Chowdhury Titu, Alim Ullah Rahat, Nurunnabi Ali, Giash Barua, Nurul Alam, Sadia Afrin, Nabil Rahman, Syed Saiful Islam and Shamsul Russel.

Junaid Riaz and Imran Chowdhury represented event management company Amrosian, while officials from iON Television were also present.

Barrister Monwar Hossain, Anupam Saha and Anjuman Ara Nizam of the Chattogram Association, among others, expressed regret at being unable to attend due to previously scheduled engagements.

The organisers expressed hope that with the sincere cooperation, advice and active participation of everyone, ‘Chattogram Festival 2026’ will become a memorable, successful and inclusive celebration of Chattogram’s culture and heritage.
