Housewife shot inside home, trader inside his shop

Two people have been injured by bullets in separate places in the capital. 

In Shanir Akhra, unidentified assailants entered a shop and shot the owner of the shop, leaving him injured.

Police said the attack in the Jiya Smarani Road area of Shani Akhra took place around 8:00 PM on Saturday. They are preparing to file a case over the incident.

Relatives of the injured man said Aslam Khan runs a crockery business on Jiya Smarani Road. While he was sitting inside his shop and talking to a customer at night, a man suddenly entered the shop and shot Aslam Khan. He was subsequently taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment, inspector Mohammad Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed. 

Meanwhile, a woman was injured by a bullet fired through the window of a tin-shed house in the Matbarbari Mosque Lane area under Darus Salam while she was watching television around 8:30 PM on Saturday. She was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said inspector Mohammad Faruk.

The injured woman’s son, Yasin, said, “My mother was watching television when the attack incident happened. Some unidentified assailants fired through the open window and fled. The bullet hit my mother’s right hand, leaving her seriously injured and she fell onto the ground.”

The injured woman, Jasmin Begum, wife of Abdul Mannan, is originally from Uttar Dalla village under Nabinagar Police Station in Brahmanbaria district.
