Bidisha gets bail in fraud case

The High Court on Sunday granted bail to former president H.M. Ershad’s former wife Bidisha Siddiq in a fraud case.

Now, there is no legal bar for her to release, said her lawyer.

Earlier on September 2, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir rejected bail plea in the same case.

The case was filed with Gulshan Police Station in 2008 over an allegation that Bidisha had taken Tk 7.5 million by promising to sell a flat in Baridhara.

Bidisha was arrested from a restaurant in the capital on August 25 and sent to jail the following day after her bail was rejected.
