Hasan Mahmud's 7-wicket burst strengthens Bangladesh's pace case

Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud strengthened his claim for a regular role in the national team with a seven-wicket haul for Kent in the County Championship on Sunday.

Mahmud took seven wickets as Kent defeated Worcestershire by 84 runs, producing a performance that highlighted his growing value to Bangladesh's pace-bowling options.

The 25-year-old has been using county cricket to gain experience in English conditions, where movement, discipline and stamina are tested over long spells. His latest performance underlined his ability to operate effectively in that environment.

The spell comes at an important time for Bangladesh, who are looking to build greater depth in their Test bowling attack.

Taskin Ahmed remains the senior figure in the pace unit, while Nahid Rana, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shoriful Islam and Mahmud offer Bangladesh several options across formats.

County cricket has given Mahmud an opportunity to develop in demanding conditions and handle workloads that limited-overs cricket does not always provide.

His form could prove particularly useful if Bangladesh continue to place greater emphasis on Test cricket. A bowler capable of producing movement while maintaining control gives the team another option when conditions favour pace.

The Kent performance was therefore more than an impressive individual scorecard. It strengthened Mahmud's position in Bangladesh's fast-bowling plans while providing valuable experience at a higher level of first-class cricket.
