328 fertilizers sacks seized in Magura, 2 arrested for black marketing

328 sacks of government-supplied chemical fertilizers, illegally stored in Sreepur, Magura, were seized by upazila administration. The Magura district police have arrested two people in a case filed in this incident.

Police said that based on information collected by intelligence, a raid was conducted in Amalsar area No. 2 of Sreepur upazila from 11:30 PM on September 5 to 1:05 AM on September 6, on charges of creating an artificial crisis in fertilizers during the Aman harvest season, illegal storage and black marketing.

A total of 328 sacks of chemical fertilizers were seized from the residence and warehouse of ShahidJoaddar, and at the shop of Nabab Joaddar in the Amalsar area.

A case has been filed under Section 25(1) of the Special Powers Act-1974 at Sreepur Police Station in this incident. Among the accused were Shahin Joaddar (55) and Nabab Joaddar (58).

After the case was filed, Magura Superintendent of Police Molla Azad Hossain, PPM-Seba, and various police units, including the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell of the district police, started a drive to arrest the suspects involved.

Alongside this, a drive was conducted in Langalbandh and Kodla areas under the leadership of CCIC Magura SI Ajay Das and in coordination with Sreepur Police Station, and under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Thandar Khairul Hasan PPM, Suspects Shahin Joaddar and Nabab Joaddar was arrested on the morning of September 7.

Police claim that during the initial interrogation, the two would give up important information regarding the illegal storage of and black market operations involving government-supplied chemical fertilizers. Further legal action is under process against them.

Magura District Police said that the drive will continue against the illegal storage, black marketing and creation of artificial crisis with government fertilizers.
